  If not, there’s a good opportunity to do so on February 28 and 29 – "Hug a Professor Days" at Aalborg University. All students on the AAU campuses in Aalborg, Esbjerg and Copenhagen can give professors and other academic staff who are on board with the idea a hug.

• Surveillance Technology Behind Beautiful and Energy Efficient Street Lighting Published 15. February 2012

  Danish lighting companies and a multidisciplinary research group at Aalborg University have used the winter darkness to experiment with new technology that can make the lighting of streets and squares more intelligent, interesting and energy efficient.

• Aalborg University has now had the ok to take over Nokia’s former headquarter in the harbour area in the Southern part of Copenhagen Published 20. January 2012

  Today the finance committee in the Danish parliament has approved that Aalborg University can move into the building of Nokia’s former headquarter in Denmark, at Frederikskaj in the Southwestern part of Copenhagen, which is owned by PFA. The aim is to establish the future’s innovative university where education, research and businesses interact closely. The first 70 students will start their studies as from 1st of February.

• Aalborg University will help you find your wallet Published 10. January 2012

  We’ve probably all been there. The annoyance and worry when you’ve lost your wallet or had your bike stolen. But now researchers at Aalborg University have started working on making tiny radio transmitters that will allow you to figure out where your bike, wallet or anything else is.

• No more free bus rides on the AAU Aalborg Campus Published 2. January 2012

  NT reports, that the special AAU-campus bus ticket is no longer valid because of error in using the ticket to travel all over the town. You can use the ticket for the last time the 31. of January 2012.

  Enterprising international students can take the credit for the series of SPOT Conferences on technical issues concerning energy which for the third consecutive year was held at the Department of Energy Technology at Aalborg University.

• Millions in Support to Accelerate the Development of Super Potatoes Published 22. December 2011

  With 12 million kroner in funding from the Danish Council for Strategic Research, researchers at Aalborg University are now developing DNA-based technology for more efficient processing of potato varieties. The new super crops can ward off famine and contribute to a more sustainable energy supply, but the project manager anticipates a race against time.

  A new research project will make more efficient use of the country’s sports facilities with heat-sensitive cameras and newly developed software so the growing number of Danes actively engaged in sports will have better opportunities.

• EU Success: New Materials Make Cars 100 kg Lighter Published 27. October 2011

  New strong nanomaterials from a large EU-supported research project can lessen the weight of passenger cars by up to 100 kg and reduce fuel consumption by five percent. The results from the "Nanotough" project led by Aalborg University are now being highlighted as a success story in the European Commission's Research and Innovation area.

• Ride the bus free within the AAU Aalborg CAMPUS Published 11. October 2011

  NT and AAU have launched a pilot project that allows AAU students and staff to travel free on the bus between stops in the campus area and to Langagervej 2 where AUB is located.

• Cancer Experiment Secures Research Award for AAU Medical Students Published 7. October 2011

  Lab experiments with stem cells that inhibit the growth of cancer cells have secured five medical students from Aalborg University a prestigious talent award at a conference in Berlin. The group’s promising findings surprised even them and now they will be involved in more in-depth studies.

  Four IT students and their supervisor at Aalborg University Esbjerg can take part of the credit for catching students at the internationally recognized University of Alberta in Canada who try to cheat on their assignments.

  Aalborg University surges ahead in the international ranking of the world's best universities. The university moves up 104 places to number 362 among the world's 18,000 universities, and in Engineering and Technology, Aalborg is now in the top 200.

• Disney and Danish students in joint effort Published 1. September 2011

  Collaboration with Disney’s U.S. research laboratories has provided two students from Aalborg University with access to cool new technology and advice from leading computer graphics experts. The joint project supplements visual impressions with factual information in 3D glasses, and similar applications may be headed for wider dissemination through mobile technology.
